Born in Arlington, TX., Robert Lee Erwin is a native Texas singer songwriter.
When he was young, he couldn't get enough of hearing his dad's old Hank Sr. MGM 33's and quickly memorized Hank's soulful lyrics. Whether it was Hank's hurtin' songs like "Cold Cold Heart", or comical songs like "Howlin' at the Moon", Hank Sr. was Robert's idol and he loved the gospel of Luke the Drifter. He grew up also loving Johnny Horton, Merle, Possum Jones, and of course, Bocephus.
Robert started performing at age 16 when he and friends entered the FFA talent contest and placed 4th in state with the Texas Trail Blazers led by Royce Sandlin. The band played at Rodeo dances in the Fort Worth area and high school dances putting the music dream in his heart. He then wrote the entire album for Jesus Country Band with Royce, Roger Searcy, Carolyn Searcy, and Tim Erwin. Robert sang lead vocals and harmony.
Robert’s passion is song writing which led him and his wife, Johanna, to move to Nashville for about 5 years. There he focused on the skills he learned from successful song writers like Jason Blume and Rick Chudacoff. He met several great people in Tennessee and played on song writer nights held in Nashville clubs. Some of Robert’s songs were recorded by independent artists on Country and Christian Country albums. His songs, “Mightiest of Angels” and “My ABC’s” hit the Christian Country charts sang by Farrel Knight.
Robert is currently working on his first Texas Country album and it is due out in the summer of 2018.
Robert wants to thank everyone for their support and thank all the radio stations for playing his music.
