Bryon Tosoff and his catalog
He has released six albums; Holding To The Dream, Kick Back Just Relax, Stargazer and Joy To the World, and Haida Gwaii, Spirits of the Trees as well as a project entitled Mystical China, the project is a reflective ambient style of music with Oriental overtones and influences.
Holding to the Dream is full of acoustic piano tracks that range in styles from classical to easy listening. The songs are similar to Hagood Hardy or David Foster with a few that bring in a wonderful classical flavor such as Mendelssohn or Debussy.
Kick Back Just Relax is quite different as the album reflects his love for that smooth mellow cool jazz vibe. He worked with a number of musicians on this project. Paul Wainwright was featured on four tracks working his magic on sax, Ted Tosoff laying down some fine percussion and Duane Flock kicking out some fab guitar, also appearing on the album are Dolores Paradise and Denis Simpkin.
The release Stargazer is full of a variety of experimental acoustic piano stylings. Some compositions are filled with ambient tones and colors and others are brash exciting and very Beethovenish with an attitude. The Ice Storm is one that will capture your attention as it is based upon the actual Ice Storms that occurred a few years ago in eastern Canada and his interpretation of ice, wind and the crackling crunching of falling ice and trees are very evident. He has one song he sings, entitled My Soul. This work has a very haunting but beautiful rich swirling instrumentation of Hammond organ and sweeping synthesizers and punchy percussion. The whole combination embellishes the message of our inner spirit that is housed by our shroud we are draped with, this vessel we live in.
There is a single out as well entitled "Is this love affair over?" which deals with the complicated challenges of today's relationships and keeping things together.
Love Affairs can be tricky indeed, it is how one handles and builds a long lasting that is something that is a challenge, the song though drifts into something that happens and confusion and misguided affairs end up being somewhat shallow, hold on to what you have!
Bryon has released a bevy full of singles which are a variety of many styles and flavors Share The Love is one that is reminiscent of the Classical composers of the past such as Beethoven or Debussy. His other release is Stargazer which is an ambient interpretive experimental work that is sure to grab your attention.Stargazer has intriguing and mysterious sounds that will invite you back to listen to more. Other Singles already released are:
Gift of Life and Echoes, which are classical compositions with influences of Mendelssohn and even a taste of the impressionistic artists of France.
