Blanche Blacke
Location: AMERICA NORTH: USA: Illinois (IL)
Genre: Jazz
Influences:
Blanche began singing onstage at the age of five, sitting in with jazz musicians at the family club on Clark Street. At nineteen it was blues rock, on Chicago's south side with the club group “Toy”.. As co-leader of Phil 'n' the Blanks, albums reached Top 10 on Cashbox charts, videos made rotation on MTV and crowds formed around the block for many years to see her perform. In Los Angeles, she founded alternative groups, Vibe Tribe and Paisley Blacke and played the Sunset Strip.
Blanche now emerges after many years of hiatus from the music scene, turned on by Chicago's great jazz artists, she is inspired and fired up, composing, singing and producing original jazz. Loving jazz and with new inspiration, songs keep on coming. Vibrant performer and prolific songwriter, she is happy to showcase this new work. Blessed to be supported by some of Chicago's most talented and accomplished jazz .
“This is truly wonderful, a totally beautiful album, and what a voice! The slow haunting ones-- Beg the Moon, Lonely Avenue-- are my favorites." - Brett Milano, Boston Globe
“Skin isn’t Thick Enough is Fantastic!” - Steve Hochman, LA Times
