Nashville-based Good Souls play a groove-driven, harmony-laden brand of country-rock with grit, jangle, and soul, recalling the 80's alt-folk-rock of the Cowboy Junkies, REM, and 10,000 Maniacs while remaining true to the storytelling tradition and songwriting-as-craft ethos of contemporary Nashville. Wisconsin-born singer-songwriter Briana Hardyman and New York-raised but Kentucky-rooted musician Dave Isaacs formed Good Souls shortly after meeting at a Nashville writers night in August of 2007. In the tradition of great vocal pairings like Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham or the duo recordings of Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, Hardyman and Isaacs' voices blend effortlessly with a character and personality all their own. The duo has recently released their self-titled debut CD, which showcases both artists' writing and interpretive skills as well as the ace musicianship of producer Isaacs and the band’s crack rhythm section. |
