R.L. Burnside And The Sound Machine Biog
R.L. Burnside, the spiritual godfather of North Mississippi hill country blues, recorded his purest sounds in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In collaboration with Memphis record label Inside Sounds and Highwater Recordings, some of Burnsides best material has been compiled in R.L. Burnside & The Sound Machine Raw Electric 1979-1980. These milestone recordings were produced by Grammy-Award winning blues scholar David Evans and represent the late musician at the peak of his career.
A sixteen-page booklet with detailed liner notes and rare photographs enhance this seventeen-track collection, even setting the record straight about one of Americas most enduring blues icons. Of special interest is the presence of Burnsides talented sons Daniel, Joseph, and Duwayne Burnside along with Calvin Jackson and Robert Avant.
